It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul O. Maheu on May 5, 2007 in Quebec City. Paul took over his sick dad in the 60's and kind of saved the company because the founder, Horace-Azarie Maheu, could no longer handle the business because of his health condition. Paul was active with Maheu&Maheu until 1993 and then had a seat on the Board of directors.

Much involved in the Pest Management industry, he was president of the Canadian Pest Control Association and organized some annual conferences. He founded a figure skating club and occupied many positions on the board of administrators of the "Club de golf du Lac St-Joseph".

His public relation skills helped in growing the company beyond the Province of Quebec. The company will celebrate 75 years in 2008 and now operates in 3 provinces. Maheu&Maheu is the largest pest management organization in Quebec and the 3rd largest in Canada. It can now cover North America through a network of sub-contractors and its partners of the Food Protection Alliance.

Paul was known for his generosity, enthusiasm, sense of humour and he redefined the meaning of the words "catch the moment". He enjoyed every single piece of his life.
Born fighter, winner and leader, he has been battling against his cancer until the very end without any complaint. What a courage lesson he gave us!

The family suggests that condolences be expressed through a donation to “La fondation du CHUQ c/o Fonds spécifique des soins palliatifs de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec”, 10, rue de l’Espinay, Québec (Québec) G1L 3L5, Phone: (418) 525- 4385.

This department just opened at l’Hôtel-Dieu and Paul received excellent and comprehensive care. Also, the family was much supported through the network of professionals active in that department.
